Dette veggbildet sydde eg tidleg på 1990-talet medan eg var fast vikar på skulen i Ulvik. Berre einsfarga stoff i katedralvinduteknikk. 192 blokker. Teknikken treng mykje stoff, slik eg har gjort det treng ein 5 og ein halv gang so mykje stoff som flata det skal dekkja.

Teppet har fått hengja urørt i trappa på skulen i snart 20 år - det er kjekt!

I made this wall hanging early in the nineties when I worked as a (locum) teacher in Ulvik. I had a lot of spare time between my lessons, so the headmaster asked me to make a decoration for the school. I used 192 blocks of monochrome fabrics. I had a very exciting time making it - putting all the pieces on the floor and standing on a chair to see properly from distance.

The technique as I used it needs 5 1/2 times as much fabric as the finished size.

I made it all by sewing machine.

It's been left in peace hanging in the staircase of the school during all these years. Incredible, really!

Pilefletting med Mai i mai. Willow baskets in May.

Eg var so heldig å ha anledning til å gå på dette kurset i korgfletting med pil. Øverste bilete viser at eg har byrja på ein "katalansk botn", nr. 2 at eg har byrja fletta litt oppover. På nr. 3 er korgi ferdig -skakk og skeiv, med påbyrja hank. Nr 4 viser ulike sortar pil - fargar, lengder og tjukkelse varierar sterkt. Det er innkjøpt pil frå Danmark. Den lokaldyrka på Voss blir for tjukk, sjølv om det er same sortane. Norsk "innfødd" pil har for tjukk marg, so den vil lett knekkja, dessverre.

I took a course in willow basket weaving in may. You can see my lovely, almost finished basket -bumpy all over.

I went to a willow basket course in 2009. The first photo shows the beginning of a catalan bottom ( right word?), the next shows that I've worked a bit further and I use our old casserole lid weight to keep it still. Next is the making of the handle. The last shows different colours and qualities of willow.
